Biography

Was born on November 14(27), 1902 in Dilijan, Armenia.

In 1929 graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry of Leningrad Polytechnic Institute.

In 1928-1936 was an engineer of the construction of Chernorechchensk Chemical Combine and other workshops.
In 1936-1944 was the head of Vorkutin and Yakutsk iceological stations.
In 1945-1951 was the deputy chief and senior researcher of the iceological statiom of Igarka (a town in Turukhansky District of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia).
In 1951-1958 was the head of various expeditions of the laboratory of hydroproject.
In 1958-1980 was the senior researcher of the department of iceology of Moscow State University.

Is the brother of Ananyan Anahit.
The works relate to the eternal freezing of the northern and northeastern regions of Russia, as well as engineering and geological issues.
