Was born on September 26, 1873 in Van, Western Armenia.

Education

  • In 1890 entered the College of Arts in Constantinople.
  • 1894-1912 was in the studios of Kovalevsky and Franz Roubaud.
  • 1899-1912 studied in the Imperial Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg.

Work activity

  • 1912-1915 taught at the Central College in Van.
  • 1915-1918 worked at Gayanyan School in Tiflis.
  • 1921-1929 taught at the Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts.
