*In 732-748 was an Armenian lord and military leader.
*Was appointed the governor of Armenia, Atrpatakan and Al Jazeera by the agreement of the Arabian Caliphate .
*Participated in the Arab Wars against the Khazars.

*Ashot the Blind' policy of cooperating with Arabs caused the Mamikonyans' dissatisfaction for which [[Grigor Mamikonyan]] and his brother David were exiled to Yemen. The latters soon returned to the homeland and organized an anti-Arab rebellion (747-750) towards which Ashot Bagratuni hold a wavering position, which made Grigor Mamikonyan arrest him in [[Bagrevand]], blind him and expel from the political arena.
*Is buried in the fortress-city of [[Daruynk]] ([[Kogovit]] province), in Bagratunis' ancestral mausoleum.
