Died in 826.
==Work Activity==
*Since 790 was an Armenian lord (officially since 804).
*Taking advantage of the breakdown of Kamsarakan and Mamikonyan houses extended the Bagratunis' manors ([[Shirak]], [[Arsharunik]], [[Taron]]), transferred the residence from [[Daruynk]] to [[Bagaran]].
*In order to avoid the Arab threat, helped the Gnunis, tranferred them from [[Aghiovit]] to [[Tayk]].
*Appointed his brother [[Shapuh Bagratuni]] the military leader of the Armenian army, made close family tighs with the house of Artsruni.
*Taking advantage of the unstable state of the Arab Caliphate ruled independently which made historian Michael Asori think him to be the first Bagratuni king.

*Is the son of [[Smbat Bagratuni]].
*According to Nikoghayos Adonts, he was nicknamed "The Meat Eater" for not keeping a Lent.
*The success of Ashot the Meat Eater contributed to the further strengthening and uplift of the Bagratunians.
