*In 1960 graduated from the department of the Armenian language and literature of the faculty of Philology at the [[Yerevan State University]].
==Work activity==
*In 1960-1962 was a senior researcher of the [[Literature Institute after M. Abeghyan ]] of the [[National Academy of Sciences ]] of the [[Armenian SSR]].
*In 1982-1986 and since 2004 has been the chief editor of the newspaper "Գրական թերթ".
*In 1986-1988 was the clerk of the administration of the [[Writers' Union of Armenia]].
*In 1989-1994 was a leading researcher of the Literature Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
*Since 1994 has been the head of the literature department of the [[Yerevan Drama Theatre]].
==Achievements==
*In 1994 became a doctor of philological sciences.
*In 2000 was awarded the all-Armenian prize "Vahagn".
*In 2006 was awarded the Golden medal of the ministry of culture of the [[Republic of Armenia]].
*In 2009 became an honored figure of culture of the Republic of Armenia.
*In 2009 was awarded the president's prize of the Republic of Armenia (for the novel "The Black Square in the Red Desert").

Is the brother of [[Adalyan Raffi]] and [[Adalyan Ruben]].
*His plays have been performed in the Yerevan Drama Theatre.
*The artistic film "The Last Sunday"(1984) was shooted based on his stories.
*In 1994 his drama "Black and White Keys" was presented printed in the magazine "Garun".
*His stories were translated into Georgian, Belarusian, Latvian, Bulgarian, Slovak, English and German as well.
