  • In 1973 he visited Armenia with his wife, journalist Alice Arlen. He came to Armenia for the second time in 1989 and visited Artsakh with Louise Simon, Berkruhi Svachian and others. He was connected to the armenian life and considered himself an Armenian writer.
  • Armenian topic and memoir play an important role in his works.
  • In his work "Passage to Ararat" he discovers his identity and emphasizes his aspiration of returning to his national roots. It has been translated in 22 languages.
