Education

Work activity

  • In 1851 established a private school in Smyrna with Matteos Mamuryan.
  • From 1860 to 1863 he edited the first Caucasian magazine "Crane for the Armenian World" in Tbilisi.
  • From 1866 to 1867 he edited "Germ of Avarayr" periodical in Constantinople.
  • Worked for "Arevelyan mamul", "Luys", "Byuzandion", "Tsaghik", "Luma" periodicals.
  • Translated Gizo's "History of Civilization" from French into Armenian.

Other

  • He expressed the interests of Eastern Armenian associations in articles and in separate works, defended Armenian national-liberation movements of 1860, in particular the rebellion of Zeytun in 1862.He criticized the "Polozheniye" which limits the rights of the Armenian Church.He was an upholder for creating a common language through the rapprochement of Eastern and Western Armenians.
  • Translated Gizo's "History of Civilization" from French into Armenian.
