Biography

Was born on July 5, 1955 in Beirut, Lebanon.

Education

  • In 1978 graduated from the University of California in Los Angeles.

Work activity

  • In 1993 taught in the George Washington University, Georgetown.
  • In 1995 became the president of the directors' council of the Zoryan modern Armenian studies and documentaries institute in Cambridge.
  • In 1996 taught in the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor).
  • Since 1997 has been the director of the Armenian National Institute in Washington.
  • Has been a lecturer of the John Hopkins University.

Achievements

  • In 1987 became a doctor of historical sciences.
  • In 1993 became a professor.

Other

  • Since 1966 has been living in the USA.
  • The works are related to the Armenian historiology (Nicholas Adontz, the Mechitarist monks etc.), the Armenian genocide, the Armenian question, the history of the foreign policy of Armenia etc.
  • Has had a huge honour in compiling, editting and publishing of the "Genocide Encyclopedia" (Oxford, 1999, English).
