- In 836-852 and 868-874 was a senior lord of Vaspurakan.
Other
- Supported his uncle Bagrat Bagratuni in the struggle of Bagratunis' for power. In 850 along with the latter resisted Arab policeman Abu Said forbidding his entry to Armenia.
- In 852 was captured by the Arab military commander Bugha. In 859 after getting free from captivity by false denial, for some time fought in the Arab armed forces in Mesopotamia, later returning to his homeland restored the former rights.
- In 860s fought against the Arab Amiracy established in Berkri.
- Ashot Artsruni was the second senior lord of Vaspurakan after Prince Hamazasp Artsruni.
- Is buried in Khach monastery in Aghbak province.
