Biography
Was born on September 18, 1918 in Bayazet, Republic of Armenia.
Education
- In 1945 graduated from the faculty of philology, Yerevan State University.
Work activity
- Worked at the Yerevan State Theatre.
- 1945-1953 dealt with educational activities.
- From 1959, researcher at the Institute of Arts.
Achievements
- In 1959, candidate of arts.
Other
- Works refer to the mediaeval armenian miniature, particularly Cilician.
- Elucidated to which schools belonged the cilician armenian manuscripts, allocating much importance to Toros Roslin's work.
- In the book "Early medieval armenian sculpture" he examined medieval armenian carvings on monuments and architectural monuments.In the album "Armenian Kachkars" he tried to classify the khachkars by periods and there is information about khackars' origin, practical signification and medieval armenian stonemasons as well.
