Biography
Was born on November 4(16), 1842 in the village of Keremet (Nikomedia province), Turkey.
Work Activity
- In 1873 was ordained an archimandrite in Constantinople.
- In 1888-a bishop in Etchmiadzin.
- Was an abbot of the abbey of Armash.
- In 1888-1894- the Armenian Patriarch of Constantinople.
- In 1889 founded the abbey of Armash.
Other
- In his composition "Concise Philosophy" considered the main problem of philosophy to be the justification of the existence of God through the study of the essence of the soul.
- In his composition "Concise Logic" considered logical capabilities to be divine grace, examined it as a science of the acquisition and justification of new truths.
- On June 4, 1894 refused the Patriarchate, after which lived in the village of Makri and engaged in propaganda.
