Biography
Was born on November 16, 1939 in the Yerevan city of Soviet Armenia.
Education
- 1964-1969 studied at the Creative Department of Yerevan State Conservatory named after Komitas.
Work activity
- Since 1969 teaches theoretical subjects at the Conservatory.
- Is the head of the Department of Music Theory at the Conservatory.
- 1991-2013 was the president of the Armenian Composers' Union .
Achievements
- In 1969 the first Prize (for "To Komitas" (Կոմիտասին) song, Beirut, Lebanon).
- In 1973 "Best Song" prize (for the song "Where are you?, boys" (Ո՞ւր եք, տղաներ) Berlin, Germany).
- In 1975 the third prize (for the "Autumn melody" (Աշնան մեղեդի), Sopot Contest).
