Biography
Was born on March 27, 1897 in Van, Western Armenia.
Education
- Received primary education in Varagavanq.
- Studied at "Aramyan" college of Constantinople.
Work activity
- Worked as a pedagogue in Van, Constantinople.
- In 1860s his first collection of poems was published ("Vardan The Great" and "Trdat The Great" which were staged in Van, 1867).
- From 1867 worked as a teacher in "Ghukasyan" college of Van.
- In 1873 "Mrmunj" and "Usyal Pandukht" were published.
Other
- Wrote the music of his plays.
- In his works Amirjanyan described the Turkish tyrannical dominion and the Armenians' oppression, because of which thousands of people abandoning their homes, families and homeland became alien.
- According to Amirjanyan, in Western Armenia reigns deprivation, violence, slavery, sorrow, stolenness and Turkish atrocity against which we must fight with weapons.
- Amirjanyan named Turkey a "drowning country" and 1876's Ottoman constitution - "Ottoman deception".
