Biography

Was born on May 5, 1902 in Baluja. Republic of Artsakh.

Education

  • From 1908 to 1911 attended the Sonday School near the church of his birthplace.
  • From 1911 to 1919 studied at the Russian Gymnasium in Ashkhabat.
  • In 1919 studied in the Bridge and Tunnels Faculty of the North Caucasus Polytechnic Institute in Krasnodar.
  • From 1920 to 1923 studied in the Medical Faculty of Central Asian University of Tacland.
  • In 1927 graduated from the medical faculty of Yerevan State University.

Work activity

  • From 1919 to 1920 worked as a journalist-translator at the Armenian Consulate of Armavir.
  • From 1920 to 1923 worked as a sanitary controller in Tashkend district.
  • From 1923 to 1924 worked as a secretary at the Public Affairs Department of People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs in Turkey.
  • From 1927 to 1928 worked as the head of the "Vedi" Tropical Station in Ararat region.
  • In 1928 worked as an intern in the Yerevan Psychiatric clinic.
  • From 1939 to 1942 was the Ministers Council Deputy Chairman of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic.
  • From 1945 to 1948 was the ASSR Minister of Enlightenment.
  • From 1948 to 1951 was the Rektor of Yerevan Medical Institute after Mehrabyan.
  • From 1963 to 1972 worked in the USSR Department of International Relations.
  • From 1953 to 1963 was the Chief Psychiatrist of the USSR Ministry of Health.
  • From 1947 to 1951 was parliament member of ASSR Supreme Council.

Other

  • From 1928 to 1929 served as a military and junior doctor in Red Armenian Army.
  • Works relate to the treatment of various forms of schizophrenia and the organization of psychiatric care.
  • The author of over 40 scientific publications.
  • He died on July 29, 1972 in Moscow.He is buried at Tokhmakh cemetery in Yerevan.
