Biography
Was born on December 9, 1923 in Cyprus.
Education
- In 1944 graduated from American University of Beirut.
- In 1948 graduated from California Institute of Technology.
- In 1951 graduated from Yerevan State University.
Work activity
- From 1976 to 1985 headed the California Institute of Technology Seismological Laboratory.
- From 1983 to 1993 was the Construction Faculty Dean at the University of California.
- From 1991 to 1996 was the Founding-President of the American University of Armenia.
Achievements
- In 1998, foreign member of National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.
- In 1966, member of the New York Academy of Sciences.
- In 1994, honored doctor of YSU.
- Movses Khorenatsi Medal
- Saint Sahak-Saint Mesrop Medal
