Was born in 1856 in Tiflis, Georgia.

Education

  • In 1873 finished Nersisian school in Tiflis.

Work activity

  • In 1876 worked at Nersisyan school as a teacher.
  • In 1896-1912 edited and published the "Luma" journal, worked at "Meghu","Ardzaganq","Nor Dar" and other periodicals.

Achievements

  • was an author of many religious books and calendar works, published a wall calendar.
  • the biggest work of Gyut Aghanyan is the collection "Divan of Armenian history" of thirteen large volumes with valuable prologues and notes.
  • translated the works of M. Servantes, Charles Dickens, G. Hofman, H. Sienkiewicz. He turned the "History of Vardan and the Armenian War" by Eghishe into modern Armenian.
  • explained historical problems from the point of view of the church.
