Biography

Was born in 1917 in Astrakhan, Russia.

Education

  • Graduated from the Military-Engeneering Academy of Moscow.
  • In 1952 graduated from the Frunze Military Academy.
  • In 1955 graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff.

Work activity

  • In 1939-1940 participated in the Winter War between the Soviet Union and Finland.
  • In 1941-1945 participated in the Great Patriotic War.
  • By the end of 1942 had been the chief of a sapper unit, the head of the staff of a sapper battalion of the Western Front.
  • In 1960-1967 was a senior lecturer, the head of the department of Engineering in the Military Academy of the General Staff.
  • In 1967-1970 was the head of the engineering troops of the Soviet brigades located in Germany.
  • In 1970-1974 was the deputy head of the engineering troops of the USSR Ministry of Defence.
  • 1975-1987 was the head of the engineering troops of the USSR Ministry of Defence.
  • In 1986 participated in the action of eliminating the causes of the disaster of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant .
  • In 1987 was promoted to the rank of the military inspector-advisor of the USSR Ministry of Defence.

  • Participated in the action of engineering support in Voronezh, Bryansk, the third Belorussian, the first and the second Baltic fronts.
  • His role was essential in the battles of Stalingrad(1942-1943) and Kursk(1943).
