*The son of [[Smbat I]]. Succeeded his elder brother [[Ashot "Yerkat" II]].
*As a constable his seat was in Kars.
*His capital was based at [[the fortress-city of Kars]].
*He founded [[St. Araqeloc monastery]] (still standing).
*In 948 he moved the seat of the catholicos of all Armenians from [[Aghtamar]] to [[Argina]].
*Counterattacked the arab invaders, confronted the invasions by [[The Kingdom of Abkhazia]] to Kartli (Easters Georgia) which was under Armenian rule.
