Died in 761.
Work Activity
- In 732-748 was an Armenian lord and military leader.
- Was appointed the governor of Armenia, Atrpatakan and Al Jazeera by the agreement of the Arabian Caliphate .
- Participated in the Arab Wars against the Khazars.
Other
- Ashot the Blind' policy of cooperating with Arabs caused the Mamikonyans' dissatisfaction for which Grigor Mamikonyan and his brother David were exiled to Yemen. The latters soon returned to the homeland and organized an anti-Arab rebellion (747-750) towards which Ashot Bagratuni hold a wavering position, which made Grigor Mamikonyan arrest him in Bagrevand, blind him and expel from the political arena.
- Is buried in the fortress-city of Daruynk (Kogovit province), in Bagratunis' ancestral mausoleum.
