Died in 689.
Work Activity
- Since 985 was an Armenian lord.
- During the first years ruled relatively independently, developed construction activity (built the Church of the Holy Savior in Daruynk).
Other
- Followed Mamikonyan Grigor, who died in the war against the Khazars.
- Appointed his brother Smbat as the leader of the Armenian forces.
- In 686-687 the Byzantine Emperor Justinian II conquered Armenia. Ashot Bagratuni apparently assuming the Byzantine dominance, preserved his position as an Armenian lord.
- In 689 was wounded and died in the victorious battle against the Arabs in the valley of Yeraskh.
- The sharakan «Զորս ըստ պատկերիս» is ascribed to him.
- Is burried in the fortress-city of Daruynk (Kogovit province) in Bagratunis' patrimonial mausoleum.
