- In 1943 graduated from Bryn Mawr College and got a Bachelor's degree.
- In 1946 graduated from Columbia University and got a Master's degree.

- The head of the department of Armenology and history of Byzantium in Columbia University (USA).
- The dean of High school of Princeton University.
- A trustee of Ford foundation (two times).
- The head of "Revue des Études Arméniennes" in Paris.
