Was born on May 22, 1924 in Paris, France.

Work activity

• In 1995 he became the Ambassador of the President of Armenia on Special Missions.
• In 1989 he was a Permanent Delegate of Armenia to UNESCO.

Achievements

• In 1960-Grand Prix Award for Best Italian Song.
• In 1963, 1971, and 1980–Edison Awards (three-time award winner).
• In 1971–"Golden Lion Honorary" Award at the Venice Film Festival for the Italian version of the song "Mourir d'aimer".
• In 1987-Awards after Bernard Cornwell.
• In 1995-"Gain and Devotion for France" Grand Medal of the French Academy.
• In 1995–"Ambassador of Goodwill" and "Permanent Delegate of Armenia" to UNESCO.
• In 1996–Induction into the "Songwriters Hall of Fame".
• In 1997–"French Victoire" award for Male artist of the year.
• In 1997-"Honorary César" Award.

• In 2010–Honorary order from Russia "For contributing to strengthening cultural relations between Russia and France".
• In 2014–"Special Prize" named after Rouben Mamoulian of the "Hayak" National Film Awards in Armenia for "his great contribution to world cinema".
• In 2016-"Honorary Hollywood Star" plaque from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Other

• In 1946 Aznavour had a concert tour with "Compagnons de la Chanson" band sponsored by Èdith Piaf. He wrote songs for È. Piaf and others.
• In 1946 and 1996 he had concerts in Yerevan as well.
• In 1959 he deserved public recognition after performing at "Olympia" concert hall.
• He is authour of more than thousands of songs.
• Since 1988 he has been to Armenia more than 10 times.
• He established "Aznavour for Armenia" foundation in Paris. He visited the disaster zone.
• In 1993 the armenian assossiation of "Aznavour for Armenia" was opened in Yerevan.
• There are squares after Aznavour in Yerevan and Gyumri. In 2000 S. Petrosian sculptured his sculpture which is also placed in Yerevan.
• In 2004 the wax figure of Aznavour was placed at Madame Tussauds museum.
