  • According to the International Gymnastics Federation certification the complex of his exercises on rings was named "Azaryan Cross".
  • Was the first gymnast who became an Olympic Champion in Rings twice, a feat that Akinori Nakayama would accomplish twelve years later and that no one else has matched ever since.
  • Has two daughters and one son. Neither of his daughters followed his footsteps, but his son, Azaryan Eduard, became a successful international gymnast too.He was the coach of his son throughout his career. Eduard was a 1980 Olympian, where he competed in every event and won a gold medal in the men's artistic team all-around.
  • When he was 17 years old, a group of Armenian gymnasts hold an exhibition in his town.Afterwards, a few teenage boys (including Albert) went on the apparatus and tried to perform the skills they had just watched.The gymnasts got very impressed with Albert and they invited him to move to Yerevan and train with them.Three years later, he became the Armenian champion on rings and earned a Master of Sport ranking.
  • Has received congratulations from late Armenian Prime Minister Margaryan Andranik on his 70th birthday, former Armenian President Kocharyan Robert on his 75th birthday and current Armenian President Sargsyan Serzh on his 80th birthday.
