Was born on April 30, 1951 in Amman, Jordan.
Education
- 1970-1976 studied biology at the American University of Beirut.
Work activity
- 1977-1988 worked at the Institute for Microbiology, University of Göttingen.
- From 1989 worked at the Hamburg University of Technology (Professor).
- From 1990 director at the Institute of Microbiology of the University.
- From 2011 chairman of the University.
- 1993-1999 and 1997-1999 head of various Pan-European Complex projects of the study and application of extremophilic bacteria biotechnology.
Achievements
- In 1980 doctor of Biological Sciences.
- In 1989 professor of Hamburg University of Technology.
- In 2002 Honorary Doctor of NAS RA.
- In 2004 "Traditional Award" from the president of Federal Republic of Germany.
