Biography

Was born in 1879 in the village of Mets shen, Nagorno-Karabakh (now in Martakert Province, Republc of Artsakh).

Work activity

  • Worked at the Armenian periodical press published in Yerevan and Tiflis (Tbilisi).
  • 1920-1926 the head of the museum of Revolution in Yerevan.

Other

  • In advance was a member of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party, then a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, since 1905- Armenian social democrat labor organization becoming its ideologist.
  • He is the author of many works related to the international relations and the issues of the new history of the Armenian nation.
  • In his work "The social development of Russian Armenians" wrote about the history of Eastern Armenia's social-political and cultural development.
  • He considered Bourgeoisie anti-national, peasantry- Armenians' backbone; gave an exceptional place to the laborers in the national life.
  • Defended "the cultural-national autonomy" being against the project of the self-determination of nations (article "National question and democracy") beacause of which was criticised by Stepan Shahumyan.
  • He was arrested and accused in belonging to anti-soviet group. He was condemned by the USSR United state political management's presidency and was exiled to Bashkortostan fot 3 years. In exile was again arrested and accused in realization of anti-soviet preachment. On march 14, 1939 Davit Ananun was sentenced to 8 years' imprisonment by the regional court of Astrakhan. In 1941 by the same court was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment for anti-soviet preachment among prisoners.
