Biography
Was born on November 20, 1740 in Transilvania,Gurgaon. Died on January 29,1824, on the island of St. Lazarus, Venice, Italy.
Education
- Studied at the school of monastery St. Lazarus.
Work activity
- In 1785-1790 was abbot ,accessior to the throne of Stephanos Melkonyan.
- 1790-1800 taught and preached in the colonies of Transilvania.
- Abbot since 1800 at the Mechitarian Congregation,Venice.
Achievements
- A member of Mechitarist Congregation,Venice since 1800.
Other
- In 1757 was sent to Venice.
- Mastered a few old and new languages, taught armenian, art of rethory,geography,theology.
- Agonc,negotiating with Napoleon the First, managed to maintain armenian concord and by the manifesto of the emperor in 1810,August 17 it was recognized as a scientific institute with the name «Հայկական ճեմարան» .
- Wrote historian-geographical,rethorical,relihious-moralizing works. In «Աշխարհագրութիւն չորից մասանց աշխարհի» in 11 volumes (volumes 1,5,6 were written by Ղ. Ինճիճյան) work valuable infrmation is given about geography,history,customs,political,economic and cultural life of numerous coutries and nations of the world.
