Was born on November 17, 1883 in Tiflis, Georgia.

Education

  • Studied at Nersisyan School in Tiflis.
  • Was a student of Makar Yekmalyan.
  • 1907-1911 studied at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory.
  • 1925-1930 studied at the Moscow Conservatory.

  • Worked as a musician-pedagogue.
  • 1934-1939 was the head of the Armenian Composers' Union.
