Biography

Was born on November 20, 1876 in Shoushi, Republic of Artsakh.

Education

  • Attended school in Shoushi.
  • In 1903 graduated from Saint-Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.

Work activity

  • From 1903 to 1921, the Deputy City Engineer of Baku.
  • From 1917 to 1921, a teacher in educational institutions of Baku.
  • In 1920, Public Health Technology department head of the Baku Polytechnic Institute.
  • From 1921 worked in Yerevan.
  • From 1922 to 1929, a teacher in educational institutions of Yerevan.
  • In 1937, a lecturer at Yerevan State University and National Polytechnic University of Armenia.
  • From 1930 to 1936, Kanakershin Architecture department head.

  • Construction of residential quartersin the Nagorno district of Baku.
  • Treasury in Baku.
  • Roddom (now the city hospital) in Baku.

Achievements

  • In 1902, St. Petersburg, honorary diploma of the Interior Minister of Imperial Russia.

  • Father of Aghalyan Armen, who followed his father's example and became a prominent architect of his time.
