Was born on 7 December, 1934 in Tiflis, Georgia.

Education

In 1965 he was the head of the chair of Virology of MSU, at the same time he was the head of the chair of Viruses of Vlants and Chemistry the institute of Physchemistry Biology after Belogerski. Also, he was the head of the chair of the Institute of the Microbiology and the laboratory of Virology.
He was the President of the company of Russian Microbiologists and the chair of Virology.

In 1970 became Doctor of Biological Sciences.
In 1983, 1992 became an Academicion of the Academy of Russian Agricultural Sciences.
In 1992 became an Academicion of Russian Academy of Sciences.
In 1994 became an Academicion of European Academy.
In 1994 he received a medal after Lomonosov.
In 1994 he received a State Prize of the Russian Federation.

His works reffer to the biological problems of viruses. It's based on his practical work and develops concepts of genetic substance as an active funcion in viruses.
It turned out to be the same as the different types of cigarette viruses and showed that albumens of foreign viruses were changeable.
